This will probably be a recurring question and there are a lot of misconceptions to the answer. However, I will attempt to briefly explain so inital steps to help you hear God’s voice and be confident that you have heard him. There are various ways that God speaks to us. However, I want to focus on hearing God through the inner voice which is I believe the initial phase to hearing God speak.
All throughout scripture what you find recurring is God telling his people variations of these two phrases, “those who have ears, let him hear!” and “Hearken unto my voice”. So, Why does God have to tell us to listen to him? The scripture clearly dictates that the issues is not with God speaking. It lies in the fact that we are not listening. God is passionate about speaking to his people. He desire to share his heart with us, but our own minds and hearts prohibit us from hearing him. Life can be really demanding and distracting. Some of us have kids, jobs, homework, careers, and other obligations and they demand our attention. So, the first step is to remove any and all distractions of your soul (i.e. mind, will, emotions). This means you have to quiet yourself through various means such as prayer, fasting, or maybe worship. One scripture that I found is helpful when the difficulty of quieting my mind and thoughts before God overtakes me is 2nd Corinthians 10:5. It reads, “Casting down every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”. Praying this scripture will break any demonic influences from your mind so that you easily yield yourself to the Lord.
After you start to spend consistent time with the Lord in prayer and worship, you will notice a distinction from your thoughts and God’s thoughts. As you continue to ask the Lord, to speak to you. In most cases, it will come in unplanned, sporadic thoughts, feelings, or emotions. Listen to these nudges of the Holy Spirit. You don’t have to be in prayer for the Lord to speak to you. He can speak to you throughout your day. However, our minds and hearts must be open. This means that we must always have a receptive heart and mind before the Lord or an openness, if you will. If you posture you heart, you will be surprise as to how much God wants to say. You will also have to have faith, because the enemy is going to tell you it is not God. You will convince yourself that it is you. However, Leap in faith and just believe it was God. Don’t allow doubt to shake you!
I pray that know you will take advance of your God-given right to hear God’s voice. If you desire to learn more about this topic, please visit http://prophetspace.ning.com.

That was informative and very educational. It’s all about intimacy with God and spend time in his presence. You have so much wisdom.
Now that I’ve yielded and am willing to accept what God has offered me this comes at a very good time. I didn’t even read any of these forums before. So thank you for sharing your wisdom. You really blessed me too. Thanks brother!
Prophet Allen, thank you so much for breaking it down like that. I will start praying the 2 Corinthians 10:5 Scripture from now on. I really need to hear what my Daddy is saying to me—-it’s been a long, stressful year already for me: I’ve gotten laid off five times, I lost my apartment, my “Heaven-sent” girlfriend broke up with me two days ago because, she wants her ‘life back.’ Yesterday was my birthday which, is a blessing, especially after getting blessed with a new job.. But my car got repoed an hour ago.
Will you please render me some insights on my situations and what God wants me to do?
